Restoring Hope & Rebuilding Lives
Maybe this is your first encounter with therapy and you have received positive feedback from others around their personal experience. Maybe it has been years since you have spoken to a therapist and you want to return. You may have tried other resources, with some success, but noticed that you were still experiencing some of the same challenges. You may have also wondered what it would be like to have a listening, nonjudgmental ear. Maybe you are wondering what to expect and if therapy is the answer to your concerns. Whatever your reasons for considering therapy, I’d like to start of by saying thank you for investing in your healing journey.
Taking steps to start therapy is a very personal and intentional process that takes courage. At times, life can be challenging but those challenges do not have to be experienced in isolation. It can be isolating when we are going through life’s circumstances and feel as though no one understands what we have been/are going through. It does not have to be a source of shame/stigma to experience challenges with stress, caregiving, mental illness, parenting/relationship challenges or any other challenge. It is what makes each of us human. I take pride in ‘doing life’ with clients; helping them find the strength within.
As a clinician, I come with several years of experience working in mental health. I’ve worked with most age groups, various diagnoses and issues, as well as different settings. I also do not believe in utilizing a one-size-fits-all approach with clients, and tailor treatment to each client’s circumstances/individual needs. My aim is to create genuine connections with clients but, with that connection/communication, we will be ‘communicating with a purpose.’ I request/welcome open feedback from clients concerning their treatment goals/progress.
