She has always loved children and started out wanting to become a teacher, however, in college she discovered psychology and changed her major. She went on to graduate school in Boston and became a school counselor for 10 years. She lived in Key Largo, Atlanta, Corpus Chris and Dallas. She has her Ph.D. in Counselor Education from Georgia State University and is a licensed professional counselor as well as a registered play therapist supervisor.
Dr. Jackson's approach with clients is client centered and she is compassionate and warm. Clients come to counseling for a variety of reasons, however, Dr. Jackson has found that an underlying issue for many clients is that as a culture we are consumed with doing. People often are overcome with responsibilities that they forget how to be in the world. You are not worth what you do. Your worth comes from the fact that you are human. People tend to get wrapped up in their "doing" lives that they forget how to be. How to be with others, how to be with yourself. Therapy allows you the place to learn new skills to sharpen your appreciation for being.
